In my years of taking ceramics class i've been able to truly discover what inspires me throughout my days. I've noticed that every single person is intrigued by something different and have varying views on how things should be created. I create the work I do because I like to design things that make people ask themselves, how did she do that, or how could she even make this? I like to have a broad horizon of work from shape angular pieces to smooth rhythmic details. I enjoy adding small pieces to my work like squares or shapes to add a pop out effect, or even create long pieces that have a lot of movement. In the future I hope to create more pieces that cause peoples eyes to move and have interest in every angle.

When I first think of a design idea I like to think of a material or object that I can change and make into something else. I usually look up different ceramic pieces with a certain shape or texture and it helps me create a different take on the design. I find pictures of these objects and put them in my sketchbook and draw sketches based on them. Most of the time I have an idea of what I want to create but it changes based on how my work is coming along, which is a good thing, I think. I also love the fact that you can be creating a piece with a set design and in the blink of an eye the whole thing can be flipped around into something completely different.

My current work is a sharp angled tea pot with triangular tea cups to go along with it. The idea for this project was inspired by the artist Laith Karmo and jagged angles I see everyday. This piece is different from a lot of my other projects because it is functional and I mostly create sculptural pieces . When people look at my piece I want them to look at it from all angles and be inspired by it. This pot has helped me develop a sense of balance and precision, because it has been hard to create a pot that has such a large handle and top and also be able to balance completely. It has helped me to become better at creating pieces that can be used and don't have negative space. In all, this project is one of my favorites I have created, even though it has challenged me so much I hope to create many more pieces like this in the future.
